Hello from Urgent Care Bangkok

"I ended up at Bumrungrad International Hospital. I woke up last week with a red bump on my left lower eyelid. At the time, I didn't think much of it, but over the course of a week, my lower lid started to swell and turn red. I thought it would be a good idea to go to urgent care to have it looked at by a doctor. It looked worse than it actually was, but it turns out I had a sty, and the doctor recommended draining it for proper healing. The doctor suggested that it was more than likely a result of not thoroughly washing my hands when taking my contacts in and out, and I won't let that happen again. My entire time at the hospital was approximately 45 minutes, and the total cost came to around $275. The hospital checked with my U.S. insurance company, and it will be covered, although I will have to pay upfront and file a claim with my insurance company.

Although most of the staff spoke English, it was still a bit stressful. So, I returned home and slept most of the afternoon. It has been three days, and the eyepatch is off, and the wound looks much better. I took a cab ride home rather than dealing with the Skytrain and the big bandage I had on. 😄"
